A Real Yesterdays Tractor

From the Saskatchewan jubilee parade in the summer of 1955. This appears to be a new diesel John Deere 70. Not sure if it is the dealer or the new owner.

I remember back in the 50's and 60's a lot of the dealers would have equipment in our local home town fair parade. When self-propelled swathers first came on the scene the Case dealer showed off his Case by spinning it in the middle of the street in one spot. With the size of equipment nowadays I doubt they could fit it down main street.

It would be interesting to know if that tractor is still alive somewhere. There has been a lot of water over the dam between then and now.

Rusty,
You got me to think, how many on YT still
use yesterday's tractors? I use both a 1950
Fatmall C and a 1953 Ford Jubilee to mow,
snow removal, pull dump trailer. Mine are
not parade models, they are still working
girls.

I too use yesterdays tractors. a Ford Jubilee for snow removal and odd jobs around the
yard, has a FEL and back blade,, a 56 JD 420W with ring chains and a hydraulic winch on
rear in the bush for firewood logging as well as a 40 JD crawler with blade and Winch for
assistance in the bush logging, presently restoring a '48 8N

Hauled two of the last corn wagons home with a 70 this afternoon. 500 bu! We took our time going down a steep hill... I've made several trips with the old girl this fall.

THis afternoon the weather was beautiful. It made for a great 3 mile trip.

Every fall I get the urge to pull one 350 bushel load to town with the R. I would be mingling with a row of semis and 300+ horse modern front assist tractors pulling two 500+ bushel wagons. I live seven miles away from town and would follow the same route I took 40 years ago when I froze my butt off sitting on an A. So far the R has stayed home. If the temp is anywhere below 70 I'm not doing it.

Anyone who has seen my youtube videos knows I have a few of yesterdays tractors on the job. That Massey Super 90 is my year round chore and front end loader tractor. The Cockshutt 40 keeps my driveway open with the snow blower. The 730 Case does some rotary mowing as well as any blade work and landscaping I need. The only JD I have is my uncle's AR and it is in semi retirement.

My Farmall H gets to spend the winter in the heated shop, but is expected to tedder and rake hay in the summer.
