Cattle breed?

I have not seen that movie in over 30 years but it was a classic, the movie was filmed in Italy so most likely if the cattle were big and tall and cream colored to white they were Chianina, if they were big and dark grey to black they were probably Romagnola. Most Chianina I have ever seen in the US are crossed with Angus and they have their own composite breed designation as Chiangus, in some areas they are popular show calves, a lot of the first crosses come out purple and they make good looking calves. The other major Italian breed that I am aware of are Piedmontese, they are grey like a Brahmam and medium size.

I believe you've nailed it. It seems that it was actually 2 different breeds in the scenes. Piedmontese and
Chianina. Thats what had me confused as they were co-mingled. Thanks.
