New Holland 46 D Oil Filter

Bought a New Holland Boomer 46D a year ago and it is time for an oil change. Tractor gets only light use about 50 hrs a year. Online New Holland parts appears to get the crazy price of $15 or so for a simple screw on oil filter. NAPA guys could not find this tractor in their book for cross reference. Can anyone out there provide a number for a Fram or similar filter that NAPA can come up with? New Holland number appears to be 47811302. Thanks in advance for any help.

I work at a New Holland dealer and I always recommend to use the New Holland filters while the unit is in warranty. That way if you ever do have an issue you can show it wasn't an after market filter being used.

I have a New Holland diesel that I use for mowing. All the filters are available at NAPA. They can cross-reference the numbers.

Your talking about maybe $100 for filters and the oil to service a tractor that cost you what????? This is a "great" place to really save maybe $20 against the chance of causing thousands of dollars of repairs to your tractor. (Sarcasm alert LOL)

Using a Fram filter on high dollar equipment is NOT a good idea. Buying after market filters is a good way to get the wrong filter medium and relief valve pressures. I personally have seen air filters Fram made for JD tractors be too restrictive and cause premature engine failures.

I had a good laugh at your statement "Online New Holland parts appears to get the crazy price of $15 or so for a simple screw on oil filter"' Some hydraulic filters that are spin on, cost $85-100 each. Go to Advanced Idiots and buy the cheapest $2 filter that will screw on the tractor. Then try to get Advance Idiots to warranty any possible future engine issues?????

I know I am coming across a little rough on this but it is a pet peeve of mine. There are many more reasonable places to scrimp and save money than the filters and oil on modern equipment. I have had the front row seat at many train wrecks caused by people doing this.

I agree whole heartedly on this. Use the factory OEM filter, atleast till the warranty has expired.Could make the difference in a warranty issue.
