Removing rotted off 5x6 post from a concrete curb and slab

Any Ideals on how to remove rotted off 5"x6" post from a 12 inch concrete curb and slab?? I want to remove the post from the concrete and also from the ground below and insert heavy steel pipes.......

you could try a long eye bolt and pulling them or getting auger bit and drilling them. Hard to say without seeing it.
 
I used and auger bit to drill it out and then pry bars to break it apart and pull it out. I found vacuuming out the wood chips helps. It was a time consuming task, but it probably depends on how rotten yours is. Another option is a tree stump remover that you pour into pre drilled holes and set it on fire. No big flames but it gradually burns out the stump. Word of caution, don't do it if its near your home or a gas line.
 
Long auger bit,bring it out frequently to clean hole so you don't get the bit stuck.use 1 inch or bigger.make sure to get one that you can put on an extension,because you don't know how deep in is.
 
Instead of putting the pipe into the hole can you weld a plate to the end of the pipe and anchored it to the slab? Just cut the wood off flush.
