I hate moveing

Like I said this week I hate to moving but it does make me find stuff I have. Yesterday I was putting on the rear casting centers for the rear rims on my John Deere 70 D. I started to realize that this tractor has the gear on the axle to move the tires in and out. As I looked threw the parts in the create that I got ready for moving I find one old bolt that operates that gear plus one old gear. Than I found the new ones I had ordered from John Deere years ago. They call it a drive shaft A114Z04E bag #says R83588. The Gear on the axle is a pinion gear B242G11N bag says A4379R. Please no body ask what I had paid for these tow parts at the John Deere place. Can not tell you I bought them six years ago. I keep find more stuff for tractors around my house I guess I never threw any thing away. Yes I do have extra body parts for the Case 440 tractor and tons of stuff for Farmall Cub back in 1947, 1948.

I've never moved in my life (helped a lot of others tho) and dad never moved.

You can imagine what the shed walls on this farm look like. There are treasures I probably never have seen behind the treasures that dad hung up, behind the stuff I hung up. The walls aren't bowed from old age, just the weight of parts hanging on nails.......

The problem lies with this is that we some times buy parts for our projects but then these projects set for awhile. When moving you have to pack up the stuff to take with you. I plan to take this John Deere but you see you need to put the rear tires on to move it. As I said earlier I have a crate loaded up that is ready to go. 297 miles away from this house to the new house. Well I had to dig threw this create to find the lugs for the rear rims and the bolts to mount them on the axles. Just think if I had sent the create off and then later found out I had to go up there to get the bolts and lugs for the rear rims. I am not just moving around the block but cross country.

Moved halfway across the country 8 years ago. 2 semi loads and 3 loads on the gooseneck. I think the rest might all fit in 1 semi. Good thing Mom hasn't kicked me out yet!

Brent, are you staying California? Almost 300 miles is a long way.I thought you were only moveing 'across town'. Good luck on your move.

I looked up Benton. It is an oldghost town east of hwy 395. A mining boom town that never quite died. Near Bodie. Not exactly farm country but I'll bet people have tractors.

I have had this chance to buy a house before you get in to Benton Ca. the crazy thing is that they call it the new part of Benton. What I like is that it is close to a bunch of crazy farm country. and it is close to the new part of Bento on I think hwy. 6 just before you turn on to 120. Sorry I did not know that the old town of Benton was a ghost town. It was a place that I could afford to buy the property that I needed to do my Hobby.

Brent, I don't know you so I have some questions. Are you old enough to be retired or young enough to still be working? If young enough to be working what kind of a job do you have to be able to move that far away? That is not a daily commute. Or have you been able to find a job where you are moving too? If working I could see moving up to 50 mile but not 300+ mile. I am 73 and a retired farmer.
