John deere 60 ballpark value

I know, im bad, but there is a jd 60 at an estate auction tomorrow. Tractor has been parked in a shed for at least 15 years. The old ran when parked, but not running now. Tires hold air, nothing to write home about. Has a part of a loader mounted on it. Grille is a little bashed in. Rest of the tractor semms straight and all there. Narrow front end. Any ball park guesses???? Tractor has been on that farm since new, has original owners manual with it.

Early or late would make some difference, power steering would add some, but for me, if over a grand, somebody else would own it.

It is up to YOU.....

If it does not run, BEWARE...anything under the Sun could be wrong...figure Scrap price Plus any value you figure you can add..

If I had a choice I would look for a 520 or 620/630..well...I am in Central Ohio and have a 520 I will let go..runs FINE and looks pretty fair..PTO has some noise, nothing else to say about it..

the 60 standard is more of a collector tractor than the row crop as there was way less built. i would say 1000.00 tops but those john deere guys go nuts on stuff.

Depends if it has the optional PS and live Pto. It's worth more than an A with the duplex carb and the live hydraulics .

Neighbor had a great running 60 I wish I had bought.
It had power steering, good tires, straight tin including
fenders, the independent PTO option, which I'm sure you
know is different from live PTO, plus it had factory 3 pt
hitch for $2500. It wasn't for sale very long.

good luck on this one glennster let me know what the JD 4020 that they have sells for too. Guess it all depends how much time and money you wish to put into it

I just bought a nice runner for $1500 this past summer. It is a 1955 and has live PTO, power steering, nice 14.9-38 rears. Also paid $500 for a complete parts machine, and it turned out to be too much. I watched one sell near Bridgeport WI last winter for $1000. It was siezed, had aftermarket power steering, had a 45W loader and had a schwartz wide front.

Have not seen a 60 sell but last fall and this spring parts only A's were selling for $2,000+ here in Ohio.

A running one with power steering sold a few weeks ago for $500 at an auction in SD. However, everything was going cheap at that auction.

Independent PTO has nothing to do with the drive clutch.
It has a separate lever to turn it on and off at will.
My JD is like that as well as my SOS Ford.

Live PTO on other tractors use a two stage clutch.
Pedal half way down stops tractor movement, all the way
down stops the PTO shaft too. Let it up part way starts the
PTO, let it up the rest of the way to start ground movement.

Live PTO just means the the PTO operates independent of the transmission. I suppose you can call it independent live PTO if you'd like, but it's still live PTO.

As far as I know, there are only two kinds of PTOs on a 60 - engine driven (live) PTO, and transmission driven (non-live) PTO. A 60 also has a second lever that engages and disengages the entire PTO before the PTO clutch. The 60 has to be shut off to engage it, but can be running when disengaging it. I run mine with this lever off, unless I'm using the PTO.

I have a JD 50. Same setup for the PTO that you described.
On that JD I agree, there were only two options.

I also have Fords with transmission driven non-live PTO,
live PTO and independent PTO. All three are different and
on some models you could get any of the three based on
what transmission the tractor has in it.

I remember running Allis Chalmers where the PTO stopped
with the foot clutch but not with the hand clutch. Live PTO.
Sort of. Still had to depress the foot clutch to stop the PTO
or to engage or disengage the PTO. That's not independent.
