Help with a cribbage hand

We're in deer camp tonight, playing a game of cribbage.
Mike gets the following hand: 3 fives and a ten. Another five gets turned up on the top of the deck.
We counted 28 points.
Is that correct?
That's what he pegged anyway.
First hand of the night.
It was a whole street right out of the gate.
I came back. A little...
Beat getting skunked by one point.

At least you didn't get double skunked!
Been a while for me too, but that seems right.
10's and 5's, no runs or knobs to be counted.
Euchre is so much easier. Pinochle anyone?

My wife and I play sometimes,when we're not sure there's a few online hand counter sites for free where you enter in each card and it will calculate the score.

Yes 28 is correct.
The highest hand possible is 29, 4 fives and a jack.

28 points is correct. I've played for years & have seen several 28 hands but I have never seen a 29.

We played off and on at lunch time where I worked and another guy and I"pegged to the corner on opening hand" and that's before counting up the cards.
