Have a 12V Positive ground tractor want to install an electric fuel pump, all the pumps I find are negative ground can I insulate the pump and then run it 12V neg ground or will the gasoline
carry current?

All of the electric fuel pumps I have seen have two wires, just reverse the wires. The pump ground will be hot, Pos will be the ground.

s the other fellow said about the wires, but if it uses case as one connection, just do as you said, I have done same and it works just fine. Gas is a non-conductor at 12v for sure.

If you hook the postitive lead of the fuel pump to the positive battery cable and same with the negative wires it will work...

So many people get confused or aren't sure on electrical connections when "Positive Ground" is mentioned.

The word "Ground" does not mean "Negative or Positive" it just means which is connected to the frame of any vehicle.

Wiring any device to a "Positive Ground" system you still hook "Positive to Positive" and "Negative to Negative" unless the device is not polar sensitive.

When jumping a battery that is hooked up "Positive Ground" you still hook the jumper battery to the other battery "Positive to Positive" and "Negative to Negative".

The reason I asked is way back in the 60's when I owned positive ground British cars things like a neg grd 8 track tape player had to be insulated in something like a wooden box and if it touched any metal surface on the car it short circuited, on those players the hot wire had to be hooked to the positive post on the battery.

Right. Those devices use the case as one of the conductors. Many automotive type electrical devices do this to save on wiring, especially permanently mounted devices like generators, regulators, alternators, radios, etc..

If you get an electric fuel pump that has two wires instead of using the case as a conductor, "ground" doesn't matter.
