10/03/16 I am putting a new clutch in my 52 Case. I flipped the ring gear on the flywheel put a little bevel in the new ring gear side and had the clutch rebuilt. Now I am installing. When I put this clutch in 20 years ago I tightened everything up full force. This time I was doing the same and heard a crack noise when tightening up the pressure plate bolts. I said please God don't let this bolt break off in the flywheel. I loosened it up very gingerly and it came out full but half cracked. Now I went and got new bolts. I am retorqueing the flywheel and pressure plate. I am told 3 steps 35 lb.-80lb, then 110 lbs max for 1/2 bolt flywheel and 25 lbs. for a 5/16 pressure plate bolt and use Locktite on both.
Could anyone tell me if this is right? Old American steel is hard, but after 60 years you have to think first.
