Heading for Ft Collins CO this morning. My mother isn't well. Time to go see her. 320 miles, across the mountains(I70),through Denver. I think I'd rather take a beating than go through Denver.Might even get to see a tractor or two......

I second that on Denver. I avoid Denver whenever possible. Once I was properly in the left lane of a freeway with my left turn signal on, ready to continue down a left exit ramp when an 18 wheeler passed me on the left shoulder and continued straight through the interchange.

Those people are nuts.

Good luck to your mother.

I have the same destination Friday. Going to see brother in Ft Collins, mom in Greeley. I'm more fortunate, I drive in from the north. No Denver -- I have skirted Denver several times when going further south by traveling through eastern Co. I really dislike Denver area traffic !! Crazy

Best wishes to Mom. There is a cutoff from I70 through a canyon to Boulder. Looked it up Rt 119.

If you are going from interstate 80 to points west of I15, it only adds 100 miles to go to Salt Lake City then south, rather than deal with Denver, and you top out about 4,000 feet lower, without such long climbs.
