Todays progress in new waterl line

Started the day by driving to our local mom and pop hardware/farm store. I needed 132' of 1" black plastic pipe to make it to the house. They only had one 100' lenght, or a 300' lenght. Owner said he would cut off a 150' length from the 300 footer. You have to love smalltown businesses. The extra 20' will get the pipe up into my heated shop.
My son and DIL were up today, son had an extra day off and they helped me burry the pipe. I hit ground water at 4' down and dug the ditch at water level to the house. Still have another 20' of ditch to dig, but I am having to pull out bluestone that I laid as a walkway to the garden to complete the ditch, and had to locate and dig under two buried electric line feeding the well pump and my wind turbine.
I will have to relay the stone next summer when the backfill settles. I will also have to bring in some more dirt to fill the voids from removing all the rocks I pulled out of the ditch.

Looking good, Loren.

See you found a couple of buried pebbles. :)

Sure glad you get to do this BEFORE the ground freezes up... January would definitely be a bummer for that job.

Looks like a lot of work! By the looks of all them rocks---are you sure you aren't in Northeast Iowa.----Tee

That Kubota back hoe/excavator is the cat's pajamas and then some!! Big enough to do what ya need to do, but not so big as to tear your yard all up. My BIL put in a geothermal loop system with 3500' of pipe years ago and it took a year or two for his yard to get settled.

Looks good. I had to do that at my mother's house a couple of years ago. It was about 400'. They had put in thin wall PVC over 40 years ago and I used pex to replace it. I had a few pebbles that was a struggle for my backhoe.
