Froze up new holland 488 haybine any advice?

Just bought a new holland 488 haybine. Got it off a family friend hasn't been used in 10-15 years and wasn't used a ton before that. He is orginal owner. Was sitting outside. I payed $50 bucks for it as I'm going to start making our own horse hay. Got it home today and a little cleaned up and tried to run it. The cutter bar won't budge it's just slips the belt on the drive. We soaked it in oil is there anything else I can do to speed up the process or make it easier? Not that I need it right now to be ready to work as I have all winter but it would be nice to put it away before the snow hits knowing it's ready to work..

A lot depends on how fast you want to free it up. The fastest way would be to pull the bar hold downs and guards off and then clean it and where it runs up. Now if oyu do not mind waiting a bit a good ATF soaking will most likely free it up in a few days. I would also pour ATF on any and all chains and grease up every zerk it has and check the gear box for oil etc.

Like young fella Old says, remove hold downs. I would just do every other one and then give the knife a wack where the section attaches with a BFH every other foot or so to break it loose, then it will probably slide.

Oiled her up loosened the tie downs, put some pressure on it with a spud bar and got it loose. Ran it a little bit tightened everything up. Oiled it up good ran it some more. Thanks for the help guys I appreciate it.

Make sure you find and grease the zerk at the bottom of the wobble box. Check all the chains, look at the gib keys make sure they are tight in the drive or driven gears. Should last you a long time,
