Finished the corn today picture is of the weigh wagon checking the plot yield. After one of the driest years in recent memory, the farm average yield was an incredible 203 bushels per acre, with the top variety in the plot over 225. Can you say GMO'S? Ben

Nice. M3 w/4x30? When I hit 200 bu., the old F2 w/4x30 was overwhelmed!
Here south of Lake Ontario we suffered extreme drought this year. Really hurt some crops. Yields half of what you're getting. Then in the last two weeks all it has done is rain, several inches!

I am not sure why you are crediting "GMOs",Ben. I would be more inclined to credit modern plant breeding. High yields and drought tolerance are not currently a result of gene insertion. Herbicide and/or insect resistance do not,by themselves, result in higher yields. I had a non GMO variety in my side by side test plot that ran right with the GMO varieties, while costing over$100./unit less. We are seeing yields similar to yours here south of London, Ontario. There is an old saying"a dry year will scare you, a wet year will starve you". I have observed the same over the years.I would far rather be too dry than too wet. Now, what Niagara area and western New York experienced this year was severe drought where that saying does not hold true!

I'm still waiting to have that great feeling of being done. Way too wet. I could probably try again by late week if it didn't rain again,but that's not what the forecast says.

I have one field of soys done. Four to go. Then corn. If it would quit raining I could get done!

I fully agree with you. All technologies , plant breeding, GMO'S, soil management insect and drought tolerance must work together to produce today's yields. I just tossed the gmo thing in there because I sure don't deserve all the credit.....and maybe to take a small poke at my non gmo friends...
