Anybody come up with tricks or work-arounds or different use of tools to help to still get things done. I have it in many parts of my body but it is the left thumb that is most bothersome. Lack of a thumb can get inconvenient.

My left thumb was my biggest problem but now I have a finger on my right hand that locks and I have to use my other hand to straighten it out. That is even worse.

That's interesting. My left thumb is my problem child too. Sometimes I can't use it to type with my thumbs on this IPad. This afternoon I slapped my hands together to kill a fly and the meaty part of my left thumb painfully reminded me not to do that again.

The arthritis in my hands was so bad, it was extremely painful for anyone to shake my
hand. My neck hurt so much I couldn't turn my head. Right arm and shoulder hurt 24/7,
couldn't swing a hammer or start a chainsaw.

I tried a cricropactor, didn't help.

Went to an old lady who was trained the old school way as a massage theropist. She
rubbed oil on me, said try not to take a shower for 24 hours. I thought she was a
crack pot. That I just spent $30 for nothing. It turns out to be the best $30 I ever
spent.

The oil she used does work better than even an Rx cream Voltaren. Don't drink it, just
rub it on and let it soak in. I use it 3 times a day.

If you are brave enough to try it, you will find it does work.

My right wrist and thumb is giving me fits. I wear a brace when I can, which is not very often.
The only pain killer I can take is aspirin and I try not to take much of it.
Just put up with it and keep going.

I also have arthritis all over like others stated.
Have had cortisone injections in my fingers and thumbs,
lasts about a year in-between.
Also, I take diclophenac which basically keeps me functioning.
Only take a 375mg aspirin as needed, not daily.

I know this won't fix the arthritis you have but I would suggest getting a tenz unit IE electrical stimulation. I have been using one for several years for my knees and shoulder and can say they definately helps with the pain/inflamation. My dad had to quit farming because of bad arthritis in his hands. Couldn't use a hammer and punch or loosen anything that took a wrench bigger than a 9/16. When he could, he would just torch off the bolt and put a new one in as apposed to trying to loosen it. The tenz unit help a lot for many years. Didn't fix the problem but it sure helps with pain management. Just a thought. As I write this I have one set on each knee for 40 minutes.

If you can find it try Nutra-Joint. It used to be available at our local Hy-Vee. Made by Knox Gelatin. Take a measure (in the container) every morning for 6 weeks. You will begin to notice an improvement. After my knee surgery Doc told me, I would need a new knee in ten years, well that was 20 years ago, remember dead Dr. don't lie!

I use a product called DMSO Dimethyl Sulfoxide, it is a wood based solvent that I heard about on a late night mysteries at the ER, an emergency room show or something like that about true stories. I did some checking and decided to try it out on my hands. When they are at their worst there is constant pain with a spike at every heart beat. I tried it for a week on one hand only and was amazed at the difference in the pain level. You could also tell looking at the fingers on both hands that the swelling was a lot less. I used it every day for about a month then stopped to see what would happen. Let me say that it didn't stop the pain altogether but was a lot better. Slowly over several weeks of no use the problems came back. I have restarted using it. It has been ok'd for use in some sort of intestinal treatment. It has an odor of mild garlic. Do the research on it and see for yourself. I picked it up at TSC.

The thumb is important all right.
I have it in my left hip. If I drop something unless it was real important it stayed on the ground. I bought a hand held gripper where you don't need to bend over to pick up something. My right hip joint was replaced a couple months ago, and is doing fine. Stan

Get a "GripMaster" hand exerciser. They come in 4 different, color coded strengths. I bought all 4. Wife uses the softest one, and I alternate with the other 3. They are not a cure, but they really, really do help. I found them on Amazon.

When I was a young man in my 30s a friend of mine in his 60s swore WD40 worked for him. He just sprayed it on and rubed it in.
