I bought a front axle from a White 2-105 yesterday that came in to the crusher. I put it under my Oliver 1600 today. This one's got the welded center brace like my 2-135 has instead of the round one that has the big nuts on the front. It's got the better hubs and seals too. I was constantly taking wheel bearings out of the old one,had broken two spindles and the center steering arm over the years. It was set way out for wide rows and liked to catch poles in the hay barn and scuff along the other bales when I'd go to get them out. This one's set way in for narrow rows.
Made a whole different tractor out of the old horse.

Ya,the biggest issue is that the radiator has to come out to get the steering cylinder unbolted from the shaft in the center of it. Other than that, there's just 9 bolts up underneath that hold the whole thing to the frame. It only took me about an hour to get the darned thing off at the scrap yard, but I worked about five hours getting the loader off,the old front end off,new one back on and the loader back on today.

Here's what she looked like with the original wider axle under it. I ran that thing for 16 years with the clamps loose trying to get it freed up so I could slide the spindles in,but they never did come loose.

Hoe do you like the grabber for handling round bales? Any problems with storing them flat? I stack mine 3 high in a shed but stand them on edge. works ok but the bottom row get really squished out of shape. Sell a lot to horse people one bale at a time. Set them in the back of pickup then they push them out at home. Bottom one get hard to roll out.

That thing works fantastic. I stack four high on end with it. My Gehl baler packs good and tight so there's no problem with them going out of shape. I can take the strings off right in the barn then squeeze them and take them out to the feeder. I don't have to get off among the cattle that way.
