Re doing a mowing job

I get a call to recut a field that has grown up since I mowed it last. I usually charge less for the second cutting. I do the exact same thing, it takes me the same time. I got to thinking I should just charge the same. This guy is an eye doctor, he didn't give me a break to take a piece of metal out of my eye. Any thoughts? Stan

The time and fuel is the same so why charge less for just doing the work again???? I would charge the same rate.

I might only charge less if they didn't let the field grow way up or near where it was for the first cut. 5ft tall grass takes more time and fuel than 2ft tall grass for example.

If it is a good customer and you know that the field is clear of booby traps, why not cut a little break for customer good will?

Do you charge a premium for first time fields?

As long as you start charging everyone else the same for the second time around. He gets wind that you charged him a higher rate than the rest of your customers, you are asking for trouble.

If it's not as tall and hard to cut you could probably go a little faster, get done quicker, and not have to worry about obstructions. It might be best to do it by the hour.

I learned that a long time ago. What ever you charge for something charge everyone the same. If not it could very well come back to you and someone will feel slighted.

Regarding your mowing job I will usually give a customer a little break the second time around when brush hogging or mowing.
