Quick Update on wood trailer build.

Well, I didn't do much on the wood trailer this week. Waiting for a Sat. auction where an old box spreader was being sold. I planned to salvage the axle and 20" wheels and maybe tires, and modify the hitch assy for my trailer. It brought way more than I was willing to pay, so I went back to my plan B. I discarded the idea of a 4 wheel wagon early on in the project.
Today, I cut 10" out of the center of the 6 Ton Elecrric Wheel wagon gear rear axle that I had, to narrow it and cut a 10' peice of 3X5" tubeing for a pole/toung for the trailer. Reconfigured the A frame struts and tac welded them in place.
The pics show the rolling chassies and the primary tools that I use when fabricateing. The old "tomestone" lincoln welder is a hand-me-down thad my grandfather bought back in the early 40s. I use it all the time and it works well. I wish my wire feed Lincoln was as trouble free. Well, sorry guys and gals. Pics won't post --- get a big screen saying INTERNAL SERVER ERROR

Fwiw. My friends and I have made several trailers using the rear axle out of mini van rear end. The older ones had coil springs that had a large area on em to fasten a lift kit of sorts to put a trailer frame above. Some of them we rolled upside down, that gained a bunch of ground clearance between the wheels. The other flip side is those axles and tires are cheap. None of mine have suspension. They are purely wood wagons never leaving the premises.
