Corn picking update

In the thread from a few days ago I had mentioned that the Amish still use the buckboard wagon along with picking and husking by hand. I went by the Amish neighborhood to pick up parts yesterday and saw two Amish farmers out with the buckboard wagon and kids. No mechanical picker with power unit at least locally. They put silage up with the corn binder and stationary cutter at the silo. Now you do see from area to area where cut and blow JD and NH forage harvesters have been fitted with custom made feed tables to be used as stationary units.

Saw an amish combining beans in the Grabill, Ind. area this afternoon. He had a team of horses hooked to an old A.C. Allcrop combine, 2 gravity wagons at the edge of the field hooked to a skid steer. Hmmm, why not pull the combine with the skidsteer?
