Working the election polls

Loren ,
I have to agree with you ..... I just think it's a shame this is the best the U.S.A. can come up with ...
I guess it's all about who has $$$$

You must remember that the supreem court is open. The court is supposed to interpit the law and not make it as they have started to do lately. If one of these, jokes gets in the court could become super abundant. Second will be the first to go, and after that who knows. I am scared poopless where this country is going. We are quickly heading to what the rest of the world is. I know there are going to be a lot of replys but express your thoughts with consideration.

lways has been. Laws are for the middle guy.......bottom & top are exempt!

I'm not this year but have in the past. Both my Mother and Mother-in-law have in the past also.

Allthough the choices on the national ticket may not be what we/I would like to see, I will STILL VOTE!!! Last night I drank a beverage or so with my next door neighbor, who is running for county council. Learned a lot about him.
I just hope that whoever wins the president spot, will take their oath of office to heart! " To defend the Constitution of the United States of America" not very sure either will.

Hay Hay Hay,

My wife is one of the "judges" at our local polling place. She inspects IDs, and if the prospective voter has the proper ID, she moves them along to the next "judge" who verifies that the prospective voter is registered and belongs in the precinct. Other "judges" do the other tasks necessary to culminate in a properly completed ballot.

She has worked every election in our precinct for many years. With all of the checks and balances in the process, I don't see any way that fraud could be committed in little ol' Theta, Tennessee. I, for one, vote in every election and I look forward to November 8.

The question is are you, as a citizen, working on the election board? A lot of dedicated citizens
give up a day for their life (for minimal pay) to insure fair elections. Are you (or your family)
one of them?

well I guess I am still the officer of elections at my little precinct but if those 1400 show up they can guarantee that their vote was counted and I would enjoy getting to throw out the people trying to cause trouble.

Unfortunately there are no longer polls in Oregon - we only vote by mail. So in effect there is a poll tax here in the form of a first class postage stamp. Residents are automatically registered when they get/update their driver license. A very sad state of affairs - the nanny state wants to make it 'easier' and does all it can do to remove any personal responsibility from the equation. Just to make things a bit better, Oregon's driver licenses do not meet the federal standards for identification. So one has to wonder how may illegals are voting in our state's elections? :-(

I really miss the good old days when one had to get off ones fat behind, travel to the local poll, show identification and go to the booth to vote.

Yep. But after the election the rule doesn't seem to apply at the beverage dispensary or coffee shop ! Annoying !

It's assured by the things already said that one won't.

As for the other, watch the video at the link provided and you won't have any doubts what the other will do. Then, if you agree, please pass along the link to everyone you know, especially anyone who might be undecided.

Amen. Thankfully NC still allows us to go down to the local VFD, school house, or post office (usually) and actually cast out ballots.

Now if we could just get election day to have the same acceptance as Christmas and for employers to allow everyone the day off so they would have plenty of time to vote. Heck, maybe even give them a half day pay if they come in the next morning with a I VOTED sticker just to sweeten the pot.

The powers that be gave up on that foolishness years ago in Washington state- its vote by mail only, now, plus you can register on-line. Certainly no room for fraud in that system! I understand the nursing homes get a lot of visitors from various organizations "helping" the residents fill in their ballots.

Why should employers and ultimately their customers have to pay someone to do what once was a fought for and valued privilege? Maybe on the other hand they ought to produce an I voted sticker or be docked a day's pay TDF

As I saw someone write, don't vote for the candidates, vote for the Supreme Court. Our future is at stake, look how long it took to get the liberals on the court replaced and undo part of the damage they did, some not still resolved.

That is my hope, also. I'm not holding my breath. Been a lot of disappointment in my life time in that respect. We have a group of women in my voting district who have done it for years. They know about everyone personally, so not much foolishness goes on here. Saddest thing I've seen was at the primary vote, a young man came in all excited that he was now old enough to vote but he had neglected to properly register. They steered him in the right direction to get registered, but he was really disappointed he couldn't vote.

Not to hijack the thread but ... with every presidential election it is becoming a fact (even more so this time), that the media can and will manipulate the success of candidates. Look at what they did to Mitt. They are killing us, diverting attention away from the real issues. How can you police the news media?

Yes, Been working the polls for all elections here n town for the the past 30 or so years as a Constable.
It does make for a long day but at least the girls always bring plenty of food or us.

I didn"t know that you were from Chicago! They even drive folks from the cemeteries...what a nice gesture. Too bad they never receive a verbal thank you.

I went through the training maybe 10 years ago- haven"t been called yet. I always vote...sometimes with a clothes pin on my nose. This year...I figure a C-clamp would be appropriate! or, the 30 ton shop press. The scariest thing for me is that the next Prez will name maybe 4 Supreme Court justices...skewing the court for the next generation. And that could mean screwing our Country, into oblivion! My 6 kids and 14 grandkids have to live with that.

Everyone said the same about Reagan, too but fell all over themselves to elect what we've got now!
