Dual wheel spacers

I just bought a used Massey Ferguson tractor that came with duals but they have large spacers between the duals I want to take them off and put the tires closer together. Where do I need to go to find shorter j-bolts?

Unverferth makes them. You can get them from most any ag related tire dealers. Gemplers sells them too, but they're more expensive.

What size tire?
Why do you want the tires closer together? Most guys run a 8" spacer. The wider the spacer, the better you do in mud because the center doesn't pack with mud.
You can't just the spacer off and clamp the tires together. It won't work right. You hav eto either evenly cut the spacer to make it narrower, ot cut off and weld on a new spacer. As cheap as clamp on duals are anymore you could probably find another set cheaper than pulling the tires off and welding on new spacers.

Allis Dave is exactly right. Some sort of spacer is required to keep the duals aligned with the main tires with clamp-ons. They'll just slip and fall off if you try to clamp them together tire-to-tire.

The dual rims have a sleeve on them that sits inside the inner rim he just added about a 20-24" spacer to the existing spacer. I just don't them spaced that far apart. after I posted this I found some online. Thanks for the reply though.

Wow 24" spaces? I don't think I've ever seen wider than 10". I can see why you want to cut that down. I'd think that'd kill the final drives.
Sounds like if the extra spacer was added, you could pretty easily take it back to original.

Our local tractor dealers handle J-bots, rims, spacers of various widths, and extension rims to add to existing duals. I made straddle duals for both the planter tractor and the combine...they are centered on 30 inch rows. Never run on the crop rows.

JDMAN and others....

Please keep your unbolted duals with bands chained to a wall or something. There is a small girl that tipped one over on her face, nearly cut her skull in half.

There's more info available, but I'd keep youngsters from seeing or hearing of it.

Word of caution...always.
