Ive an old Fordson Major which Im hoping to get around to re-building, engine poor and has half shaft issues. Like most of us collectors Im always on the look out for parts for the next project, wheel weights always make this model look good so Ive been keeping an eye open for some. Two years ago I was visiting a breaker in Ontario and came across tow starter weights (the ones that fix to the wheel), got them back to Scotland about nine months ago. Still looking of course and a couple of months ago I get a call from a local blacksmith to say he has three that have been lying in his yard for twenty years. So I still need one weight, got a call from a guy about 50 miles from me to say he has one weight which was on its way to the scrap man, Ive said yes to that one. So at the end of the day this old Fordson will have a full set of weights that have spent their working days many thousands of miles apart (Scotland and Canada). Wouldnt it be interesting to spend a day seeing the tractors they came from at work. Anyway just thought it was an interesting story and something I will relate if ever I get the tractor restored.
