Potato Digger Advice

I'm looking to buy a one row PTO potato digger, I noticed Oliver and Deere made ones that are PTO on rubber tires, I went with a ground driven digger but that didn't work very well. Can anybody suggest a good one to get?

If there are any vegetable growers near your area your familiar with they might be using something they'd recommend? I watched a video this morning that's pretty amazing on a huge prototype digger that's so big it likely won't see production but an amazing watch. It's an Allan 8 row digger on YouTube picking up 20 rows.

Like a lot of equipment, performance depends on soil conditions. I definitely believe the apron type are the most tolerant for soil conditions. Additionally, when the potatoes are ejected out they seem to separate themselves from the dirt clods.
I would suggest the US Small Farm digger http://www.ussmallfarm.com/ or Willsie.

Our soil is pretty rocky and have always wanted to try the vibratory diggers. Decided to get out of potatoes rather than invest in another digger.

Here is another company that sells smaller farm equipment:

My dad grew acres of potatoes in clay soil, an IH ground drive digger worked well for him, he took the shakers off the crank because the vines got tangled in them. My neighbor uses a ground drive digger and prefers it to pto drive. Dad had disc hillers on the cultivators, and hilled the heck out of them.

Old potato equipment used to be dime a dozen. There is outfits advertising new ones in various farm magazines.
