385 case IH

looking at a (I think case could be case IH)mod 385 has factory loader, any comments on the tractor, or any one had any good or bad experience with one of these. all comments appreciated.

My brother has had the one size larger CIH 495 since mid 1990s no real problems other than he put a 2250 Quick Attach loader on it and used it to move round bales and caused some front end problems. He eventually moved the loader to a larger CIH 3230.

We had one brand new in 1985, IH colors and decals, sharp looking tractor. Had an IH 2200 loader.

They are a solid tractor, much nicer than most tractors that size even today.

At 35 PTO HP it was too small for our needs powerwise so traded it for next size up (485) two years later.

We've had 3 2200 loaders, no issues with any of them. They are a nice, compact, solid loader. While not quick attach, there is no slop or noise when operating one, pretty well as close to an industrial loader as you will find on a tractor that size.

You need to specify if it is a Case 385, built by David Brown, or a Case-IH 385 built by IH. They were both very solid dependable tractors for their size. The Case/DB had a bit more power, and a 2spd pto.

I don't think there was a Case 385 (non-IH).

The CaseIH 385 is a British design utility tractor. The design goes back to the early 1960's so it's very well refined by the 385. There were a couple more series based on this design after the 385 too, a 395 and 3210 or something like that.

Good little tractors. You see a lot of them beat to snot and still running.

That was the Case 380? I've only seen one, it was closer to a David Brown 885 than anything.

The Case 380B was a Case IH 485 painted Case industrial yellow with Case decals.

The ROPS on our 495 lists the 380B as a tractor it fits.
