Transmission removal

I am trying to remove a manual transmission from a 96 Isuzu Rodeo. I got it to slide back about a 1/2 inch but can seem to go no further. What am I doing wrong?

It might be the pilot bearing is shot and has damaged the input shaft to where it won't pull out, or the splines on the input shaft have twisted and won't slid through the clutch dick.

You're not making me feel better. I'd be surprised if it was something like that. The engine is a used one we put in a a couple of years ago. I am pulling the trans because I believe the rear seal is gone. It hasn't had a lot of abuse.

JimS,

I wouldn't know an Isuzu Rodeo if it bit me, so this post has nothing to do with knowledge, it's just pure speculation.

Does that transmission have an hydraulic clutch slave cylinder on the side of it? Is it possible that the slave cylinder is hanging it up?

I ain't got no knowledge, just a question.

Slave is removed. I can pretty much spin the trannie on the shaft. I got it back a little. There is about an inch between the bell and the engine.
