Need an idea

About 7 acres of rye I want to seed with the tractor and a 3 point hitch funnel seeder that holds about 800 lbs. The rye seed is in a 18 bu. bulk box. Other than taking it out of the box with a 5 gallon bucket, there has to be an easier or better way to load the seeder. Any ideas?

The bulk box should have a slide gate on the bottom. List it over your seeder with a loader and open the gate. IF you do not have a loader than just bucket it over. You can do it pretty fast. YOU actually will be done by the time you rig up some thing else for 18 bushels.

My Father was like that. He would spend half a day rigging up some thing that would have taken 15 minutes of hard work to do.

You don't want to hear this, but for the same time you spend rigging something up that is easy for that small amount of seed a bucket won't take all that long unless you aren't physically able to handle a bucket. You will probably have more spillage with a bucket though unless you are super careful.

piece of plywood over the funnel seeder, cut hole big enough to drop your shop vac motor through the plywood. Have hose run through another hole. Make the funnel become the new canister for the vacuum, and suck it out of the bulk box.

I used to buy about six tons of fertilizer in ton bags, and put them into the spreader that I got on loan with the fertilizer. The bags have a chute in the bottom and I lifted them with my forklift. Now all I buy is one bag and I scoop out of it into my cone spreader with a bucket. It doesn't take that long, and there is plenty of rest between loads.
