Hey folks, I bought this crawler a few months back. Been handier than heck around the farm. I had a redone engine when i bought it and run like a champ, barely kiss the starter and it would start, I was running it once a week or so, then it sat for several weeks outside in a lot of rain. I did have a cap on the muffler. Now it will start like before, then die after a couple seconds, then take a looong crank on the starter before catching, run bad still having to have the starter cranking for a few seconds, then catch and run great, like a sewing machine. Any guesses as to what would cause a diesel to suddenly become hard to start? After its been running you can shut it off and it will start up fine.

fuel filters is where I would start. Then see if you are bleeding back to the tank someplace. It can show up as a leak in a line ot hose or cna just not show anything. I would think you could put air pressure on the line of about 15-20 PSI and with soap find where it might bubble if it has a leak. It could also be your low pressure pump has just taken the time to die, not even connected with the rain. Lack of flow of fuel out of line at filters could also be a culprit.

Matt, Our 550G always started good until this spring. We changed fuel pump and works great now. I couldn't pump fuel to the filter and had good fuel flow from the tank for a simple easy test. Our 550G would die out when you used it then run again like it had a plugged filter.
