I know we talk about Harbor Freight all the time, but...

I bought the $40 tire changer you all recommended a while back. I mounted it to a solid top pallet. I got to use it a couple days ago. Man, is that slick. I figure if I get a tough tire on it I can hold the pallet down with the forks and it isn't mounted in the middle of the shop floor when I don't need it.

I also needed another trailer for behind the UTV's. I have one for fencing, one for feeding alfalfa bales to new mamas, one for generators and pumps, etc. I went to Harbor Freight and had a $250 coupon for the 4x8 one that's rated to haul around 1200 pounds. It's foldable (although I didn't put any of that on). I got it together today. It's built REALLY well and heavy duty. Everything matched right up, I had the right number of every fastener, and ALL of the nuts are nylon lock nuts. I'm very impressed with it.

To keep it all farm related, I think I'm going to try cutting the first field of milo tomorrow. NE Kansas. Beans are still a good three weeks out.

You can get good cheap stuff there. I've been very happy with some of the basic stuff from there that would have cost 3 times that much anywhere else. Impact wrench from there was junk, along with compression tester, and a few other things. But they do make some good stuff. Been using one of those trailers for quite a few years now. Just make sure you keep the wheel bearings packed with good grease. Ours is used primarily in winter on salty roads tho so if you aren't as harsh on yours it shouldn't matter.

I bought a HF standing sand blast cabinet. Reg $ 199 on sale for $ 169. Great value and works great for blasting all my carbs etc inside where it's warm. Everything fit perfect and exactly the correct hardware. No complaints.

I have a brother that lives near Pamona. I grew up in the Lawrence area, we had a farm south of town. Went to school in Vinland and Baldwin. Left there in 1980 when I joined the Air Force.

Ha - my farm is exactly four miles south of Baldwin. Not many folks can say they have stopped in Vinland. Unless, of course, they were going north out of Baldwin and had to stop at the T in the road! I hay for a guy that trains high dollar horses just south of Vinland. That's my only connection to the thriving metropolis.

True story. My neighbor almost got in a fistfight one day over the Vinland Fair. Her dad had always called it "The World's Fair". She always believed him. You know where this is going. She was about to defend Vinland to the death until she learned that the fair held there is NOT, in fact, THE World's Fair. They have a tractor pull, for heaven's sake. No wonder she believed him.

I bought a 2 ton engine lift and an engine stand as well as a 20 ton hyd. shop press. all on sale. I am happy with all of them all are well built and work great and all were priced less then any where else.

My experience is some of there stuff is pretty good and a good value. Some is junk at any price. Just got to know what you are looking for before you buy it.

I bought a 3/8' air impact from HF. It was non-functional right out of the box. Leaked air from every joint. They offered to replace it, but I had to pay the return shipping, and then pay the shipping for the replacement. I threw that impact on the scrap pile and I've never shopped at HF again. Never will either.

Only thing that I bought from HF that really was "junk" were wing nuts made from "Zinc" of all things. You could barely get them snug when one or both wings would break off. Other than that I have been pleased with their products and I have a bunch of them.

I too have much stuff from HF.
I wouldn't buy the welder but I do have the stand.
Have a few small grinders and cut off wheels.
Bought grinders knowing have short life but on sale plus 20% coupon.
So far have cut a bunch with them with out any complete melt downs.
Have the 1 ton engine picker and stand, bought used for $100 for both.
Just have to be careful in what you want.

I have bought many things at HF and most of them were ok. A couple of months ago I bout a large dust collection set and they had all the wrong nuts and bolts to put it together. Spent $30 for nuts and bolts. After complaining to company they refunded the $30 I spant on bolts. Will continue to shop there

I read all of the comments and agree with them.

Something I have noticed at the one here in Lubbock, Texas, is that pricing seems to have creeped up a bit. The ads are bigger, but the deals are not as "good" as they were. Is that my perception only, or has anyone else noticed that?

Quality is mixed on what I have looked at. And, it's not consistent in my opinion. I think the best buy there is the impact sockets, especially when on sale from time to time.

I work about two blocks from the one here, so access is not a problem. We have a new Northern Tools here as well, but I haven't taken the time to explore it much yet. Went in a couple of times just to look, that's all.

I don't know how they keep their ads straight. There may be 10 that may look the same but the prices are slightly different. They are good at mine - if they have a better coupon they will whip out a flier at the register and give it to you.

I bought one of the "folding " trailors. I bought it used so don't know if HF or not. First thing I did was weld it to never fold again. I use it to water wife's flower beds. We save water from gutters for the gardens. I load a 275 gallon tote on the trailor but only fill 2/3rds full. Get a little axel bow with more than that. Cub cadett pulls it garden hose to empty it. works for us joe

I agree. I've bought a lot of good stuff at HF. And some things I've passed up.

One result I've noticed is Menard's prices on similar items seem to be more reasonable now that HF is established a mile or so away.

They put all the reviews good or bad up on the website. Twice this week I did not purchase at H-F after reading the reviews. I decided against an electronic stud sensor due to reviews. I ordered a magnetic " manual" stud sensor to HOME DEPOT for 4 dollars which finds studs quite well and has a built in level. Magnet and plastic defeat electronics from China . Mine came Made in USA.

In Canada we have Princess Auto that has a lot of the same type of products. They have quit selling some of their cheep products because of returns. They do have a great warranty system. They have never questioned anything I've returned. Many times I've been talked out of buying an item because of poor quality and directed to a better product. Just have to talk to one of the guys that have worked there for a while.
