I come to find out I can still do a few small things,as this magnetic roofing nail pick up tool will keep my son off his knees trying to gather up the roofing nails on the north side of the house where he replace the shingles with metal roof. It was made using a old CB antennae base and a old wooden mop handle, cut at 45 deg,+ or - a degree, and the base was screwed to the handle and painted. My daughter had the shingle removing tool that made the job easier and faster. His intentions are to re roof the south side of the house next year, and my daughters house this year. He attached safety ropes to himself and the house which I am grateful for.

My 2 daughters and Son in law cut trees that were wind blown on a friends acreage and brought us a pickup load last night. The neighbor who is selling his house, gave my Son permission to cut trees off his place for firewood for us, a lot of nice oak,one exceptional neighbor.

Last Thursday we went to Altoona to pick up my darlings ashes , to bury next to our other daughter, who is resting on our hill after losing a bout to cancer.
Later this week I am going to try and weld on my SIL (Bob) log splitter which has defective welding on the guides for the wedge, but again that depends on my ability to hold the electrode holder, I am thinking I can do it, hopefully I don't have delusions of grandeur. The garden went well, except for the potatoes,as it got ahead of my son, with the health issues of my wife,so next year it will be downsized.

The damnable neuropathy is requiring me to increase pain killers, just to stay out of bed. The combination of oxy and hydrocodone, which can be habit forming and that I really detest. Other than that I'm still alive, but limited.I appreciated all the nice comments concerning our loss,so up till next time, which will be a while,
Sincerely,
LOU

Lou, Good forune to you. I hope you can find the physical strength to get out in the woods hunting this fall.

Doing anything that involves activity appropriate for recovery and maintenance will keep you in the best shape possible for as long as possible. Sitting and not doing is a disaster. Even just planning for things and organizing is a healty mental activity. Keep on Keepen on. Jim

Lou keep battling!!!! Your attitude and perseverance help keep you going!!! Keep project in mind that you can do. Just plan around what you can't do.

I was once told there is two kinds of tired the tired from sitting and the tired from working. Granted it doesn't take much to tire us out anymore and you been through more than your share but I see by your message you still retain some bragging rights I just wish there were installed in some of the kid's I work with. Take care and keep posting.

Lou, Sounds like you are making out the best as you can under the circumstances. When looking for a magnet will remember my CB antenna I tried to throw out several times. I knew it will come in handy sometime. In fact I can use it now as I can't bend over from my hip surgery. I can use it by holding it by the antenna to pick up tools I drop Stan

Good for you, getting out there and doing whatever you can do. Keep doing the best you can, and your life will probably be longer, but will certainly be more satisfying for you. Don't succumb to the temptation of just sitting in front of the TV.

That killed my FIL, I believe. He'dgo to work, eat dinner, sit in front of the TV until bedtime. The MIL would have to practically beat him to get him to do something around the place on a weekend. His father was just like that, he thought his entire contribution to the family was to bring home a paycheck. After he retired it was sleep until noon, watch TV, eat lunch/dinner, watch TV until early in the morning then to bed. Repeat every day. He developed so many issues, among them diabetes, heart condition, way over weight and he'd had a stroke. He never was a fireball but if you could get him interested in something he'd work hard at it. He was a painter by trade and painted my entire house when we built it, including all the cabinets, worked his rear end off for us... wouldn't do anything like that at home.
