Last Monday it has been four weeks since my hip replacement surgery. Sitting around the house is not too bad for a change. Although I am getting a little anxious to get back to my tractors, and other projects. I have a mowing job I am putting off for a couple more weeks. Even though I could probably do it now, I had better wait. I can drive with no problem. I walk with ease. I just can't bend over for a couple more weeks. Looking back on the whole thing, the worst time was three days in the hospital. Since I have been home every day is an improvement. Very little pain. Still have a bottle of pain pills, I can save for another day. Stan

like good news!

Amen to that I was just getting used to enjoying myself on the farm and they called me back. It's hard to sit and after you can been watching to much tv you gotta get going again but I know to many people including myself that have lengthened the healing process by getting in a hurry. I also got a batch of pills here someday I'm going to make some happy critters and toss them out the door that's a thought for tomorrow dump some happy pills down a groundhog hole.
Anyway take care and go slow .

I hear you on being "locked up" in the hospital. Cabin fever is bad enough sitting around the house. You are smart being cautious. Better to get healed the first time rather than have to get an old wound re-healed.

Good news for sure.

While sitting around keep doing simple exercises, especially your
Upper body/arms.
If no small weights around, use a 3/8 or 1/2 impact wrench

Be surprised how much and quickly muscle mass will leave when not used,
Tom

Ditto. When I broke my hip (surgery and 5 pins)they didn't tell me to do anything while things
healed. I got some ankle weights and did leg lifts different ways to keep the leg in shape. Much
faster recovery when I could start using it again. First trip to PT did 20 minutes on exercise
bike. Of course I was only 30 at the time.

I don't know how you can stand it. That two weeks that I couldn't walk was depressing beyond all belief.

Good for you. Not being able to bend over is a bummer. Marilyn is two weeks post op and doing fine but I have to put on her socks and those gawdawful tight tedd hose.

What are the early symptoms of your hip going south I am getting ready to turn sixty in a couple months.for about the past year I have been getting a slight pain in my right hip right on the bone between front and rear pockets.been kinda worried about it just wondering. If that is a start of a bad hip

You put your wallet in your right rear pocket?
If so switch it to the left for a while.

Worked for me.
