Recommend a Tedder/rake combo?

Now that I'm making hay on my rental farms and have to travel up to 7 miles over the road to get there, I'm realizing in need to upgrade/consolidate my tedding and rake operations into one unit. I'd need it to be drawbar mounted so I can pull it with my truck, as I use the same tractor to mow, tedd, and take (usually an IH 385, though my MF35 is quite nice as well). Any recommendations? There's a Pequea that is close to me that looks to be built pretty heavy, but it's also $5500, which is more than I want to spend.

You reminded me, when I was a kid there was one of these sitting in the woods, never saw it used. We called it a hay kicker. The pto side rake we had would reverse and do the same thing.

If I was you I'd rig a tow point on my rake and tow the tedder behind the rake to the field. A rake/tedder combo is better than not having a rake or tedder, but no where near as good as having a rake and a tedder. I own a Kuhn 3pt combo and it's just a pain to use, but better than nothing. Frail and easily broken too. I'd get a good rake and a decent tow type tedder and forget the combo idea. You can tow both behind your tractor (or haybine since most people ted ASAP after mowing) and save yourself a lot of headaches.

I will second not knowing of any combo units that are towable. I will also second getting two different machines. The combo units really do not do either very well. NH has a combo unit but it is only three point mounted.

The tedder can be a problem. You usually need to ted at least twice, so it needs to bounce around from field to field more than the other hay tools. I don't know of a combination unit that works, but I used a couple different methods. One season I set the tedder up to be carried on the lower links of my 70 HP tractor. For many years though I ran the tedder behind my compact diesel, and transported them both by trailer to further fields. That worked very well and I did it for probably fifteen years.

Look up Haybob videos on Youtube. Not towable but very easy to hook and unhook. Does both jobs well and if you can find
one in the USA it will cost less then $1000.

Nothing towable that I know of....
A Haybob is about the only combo I would recommend. They can be hard on teeth and their frames will break eventually but are otherwise fairly
cheap to run and easily repairable.
Stay the hell away from the NewHolland tedder/rake....

Probably not what you are looking for but....

I will say this much, it claims to do both (I've only used it as a rake) but my grandfather bought a 4 basket Kuhn tedder to go with the rake, though it took 20 plus years. Pretty sure it was the last new piece of equipment he ever purchased...
