Over hauled top end, put new cam gear at same time when done it started and ran great at up to fast idle any above that it sputter and pop bring back to fast idle ran great. Put new points and con., checked gap and timing, lost spark. Checked power to coil and other that might be the cause, no luck, so bought new 12v coil it' a 12v system, points con., rotor and cap, reset retime still no spark. rotor turns at cranking. I don't think I can put the distributer in wrong, could I? I'm stumped!!! HELP !!! sMOKEY

Put the old condenser back in and also clean the points and double check gap is 0.015 at all 4 lobes. Distributor only fit one way correctly or breaks if installed 180 out. Cheap TSC points can also cause a no spark problem or a coating that some points come with can cause a no spark problem

Hi Old'
Thanks old for the come back. I replaced the new points and condenser with another new set. According tomy multi meter it beeps at the right time.I did not check all lobs. The on and off beep tells me ith points are clean, do,'t you think? I'll pull the darn thing off AGAIN, and ck all lobes. Am I doing the dist. timing right? As per you tube 1/4 inch from bolt hole points open?

Well since you know the points open like they should and conduct power if you still do not have spark do you have batter voltage to the coil when the points are open?? If you have battery voltage at the coil with points open about the only other thing that can be wrong is a bad coil

Can I put every back together, mount it back on the motor, then hook the v meter to post on coil and crank it, or pull plugs and turn by hand? The coil is new , by the way, as cap rotor, all that stuff. Thank you soooo much for giving me your in put. It feels good to have some one working with me on this darn thing. See ya later.

Yes you can put it back on and watch a meter. or test light. When ever the points open the voltage on the coil wire should get battery voltage if your meter reads fast enough that is. Or a test light since it will light up fast. Now if you never get the meter to move or the light to flash you may have the condenser wire shorted out which I have seen. Or you can put it back on and hook every thing up and hold a plug wire close to the block and watch for a good blue/white spark that will jump a 1/4 inch gap or more.

By the way my e-mail is always open so if it would help send me an e-mail and I'll give you my phone number that way you can call me if that would help more

I'm not very up on this computer stuff, went to message form and there was no send box. have to get help on this thing too. get back to you I get this workedout.
