Hydraulic issues

I've got a 970 agri King case and a JD 925 moco impeller but the hydraulics won't lift the cutter up. Had the remote head replaced and have 1500 psi at the quick connections. What psi do I need to have for the cutter to raise. Everything else on the tractor works great. The hydraulic cylinders on the cutter are good I can lift the cutter with a different tractor.

The other tractor probably has a 2000PSI hydrolic system so smaller cylinders will lift but for the 1500PSI you need a larger cylinder. If you curently have a 3" cylinder see if you can find 3 1/2" cylinder that will replace your curent cylinder. If not then have to go to a 4" cylinder.

Leroy: The JD 925 has its own lift cylinders not a single (standard) cylinder that you can swap very easily. So you would be changing two cylinders that are about 36 inches long.

The other tractor is a Long 560. One of the weakest hydraulic syatems I've been told. A fried of mine has a JD 2440 and he's used the cutter and didn't have any issue with lifting the cutter. As I commented with the tractor hydraulics. Everything else works from the 3 point and power shift to the steering. Can the pressure relief valve be bad or needing shimmed to boost the pressure or will that put more stress on the pump and possible burn the hydraulic pump up. I don't know the flow from the pump. I know that the factory pressure is 1700-1900.
Thanks , Alan.

My memory is a bit fuzzy, but back in the 70's not all tractors would work on other color hydraulic couplers. Think they are all standard now. Something to check anyway.

John Deere has a nasty habit of running the hyd pressure at around 2450 and if it is like the old haybines they run a small dai. cylinder that requires more pressure SOOOooo you need around 2000 psi for things to start to happen or a bigger lift cylinder . The new stuff requires a lot more lift pressure then what OLD tractors make , now not knowing what a Case 97- is capable of making and even if they make a higher pressure relief valve as i am not a Case experton there system . I know what i can do on the older I H stuff , So you may want to asked someone that knows the Case line on how much you can jack it up or not.
