big popular horse

When I was a kid almost everyone in the neighborhood a had a 4010/4020, or maybe two. Then it was the early Case I-H magnum. Everywhere you looked you saw one in the driveway or sticking out of the shed. What do you think is the "everybody got one " tractor of today?

I don't think there is one Al. There is so many different number tractors now it's ridiculous. Back when there was the 20 series JD, there was only 1020,2020,3020,4020,5020,7020. I think that's all. Of the new Deere row crop tractors, only the rubber tired ones, there is 10 models of the 6R series, 6 models of the 7R series, and 7 models of the 8R series. And that doesn't count the ones with tracks, or the smaller utility sized tractors, like a 1020 or 2020 would have been. Maybe I'm wrong though, but there is just so many options. A lot of guys out there really liked the 8100-8400 and the 7800-- tractors in their day and still to this day.

I agree there's so many models being made by each company its hard to keep track.

When JD went to the R and E series tractors I lost track. They're getting too many letters in all series.

It's also stupid why they have had so many repeats in series. Like how many 20 and 30 series tractors has JD produced over the years?

It's getting to where new tractors are like finger prints or snow flakes. No two alike. Before long, instead of buying parts by model number, you'll buy them based on your own name.

They are all looking near the same, much like today's cars,if it wasn't for color you couldn't tell one from the other,I fear that soon there will be only one brand, owned by the GOVERNMENT
