OT: Can't get my Eljer Titan 4 to seal

I got this from Menard's about 6 years ago. It's the one that was able to flush a bucket of gulf balls. It has been an excellent unit and has never let me down (excepting once when I didn't fully commit to the flush).

It started slowly seeping so I replaced the seal with great hopes. It might have gotten better, but it still seeps. I can't see why I would have to replace the whole "tower". I added some web images below.

I'm thinking of putting a 3/4" stainless nut to add some weight to the "float".

Has anyone else had this problem with this unit and been able to fix it ? Thanks in advance.

I have never seen one of those but I bet that the problem is just a little mineral film on the black plastic seat.

I bought a nice toilet from them and worked for 6 months to get it to seal. I finally put it out on the patio up on blocks to see what was going on. There was a defect in the casting. I hated to return it after being mounted a million times in those six months. It sitting out in the garage.

Vinegar will help if you have lime in your water.
Look at the glass carafe coffee pot is it white after a few pots.
