Trying to get my 4020 back up and going after sitting in the barn for 7 years. Wasn't getting any fuel past the injector so i took it off and took it to the diesel shop. Got it back on and timed but am still not getting fuel past it.
I used the priming hand pump, filled the filters, and pumped until it wouldn't pump any more (with banjo fittings loose). Turned it over a couple times, but didn't have any fuel coming out of the fitting. I took one bolt entirely off to see if anything was happening and it looked like there was a little fuel that was bubbling out with air.
I'm pretty sure the injector has fuel in it because when i loosen the inspection plate, fuel starts coming out. I loosened the 'out' bolt and fuel started coming out.
I don't understand why I don't have fuel spraying out.
Any help would be great.

Did you push the lift pump priming lever back against the block when done ? I think if you don't it may not pump when running.

Is the return line clean going to the tank? It does take a lot of cranking to get the fuel through the pump and up to the injectors. Hopefully dieseltech will chime in.

If you pulled the timing window and got fuel coming out than you have the vein pump primed. Make sure you have the throttle in full fuel when rolling it over. Sometimes it takes a little rolling over to get fuel. Also make sure it is rolling at a good speed. My first question is did you take your pump to someone who not only can clean and reseal your pump, but someone who will test it on a test stand? Lot of guys boasting cheap prices or great deals that never test them. Once in a while a "done it a bunch of times" job turns more difficult. That is where the guy with the test bench catches the problem, fixes it and sends it out.

I took it to my diesel guy that does all the testing and everything. I got the problem resolved by simply returning the priming lever against the block. Simple fix and feel ridiculous
