If your goals are high enough

Some days you just stay home and smell the flowers other days you just go for a boat ride. Thought some might enjoy a couple of pictures. Harbor Springs, Michigan last weekend.

It is an age thing, but at my age I look at that and think: "Who in their right mind would want to take care of all that?"

I think when you have that much you also others who take care of it for you! The owner just wants it to look nice.

Grand Harbour looks similar. I was there recently. No pics. Nice place to visit. No boat ride.

I look at something like that and wonder where do I stash my tractors and combines. Also wonder where to spread the horse apples. My bibs probly wouldn't fit in at the local eatery.

The people that "have it all" also "have helpers".

Great pics. Great for them. Glad they made it. Hopefully they didn't stomp on too many "little guys....and gals" in the process of realizing their aspirations......but that's usually not the case. Those bucks have to come from somewhere/someone.

Pretty swanky! The landscaping is beautiful. Great photos.

The dog in the stroller is too funny... is that your pup?

I wonder why the small boat is tethered sideways to the back of the large boat.

Thinking that my old straw hat, parrot necklace, and colorful hippie shirts would bring about an "invitation" to "move along". LOL

My goals are high enough , but don't involve any boats . I want a new million dollar dairy barn , with robot milking system . I wouldn't fit in with the sailing crowd. Rather be a millionaire in rubber boots , than a speedo.

A little back ground on this area of Michigan relates back before air conditioning, many businessmen from Chicago and St. Louis would have a place in this area and send their families up to spend the Summer season in cooler Northern Michigan. At that time most people traveled by train and the historical society shows that there were as many as twenty trains coming and going a day out of this area. The yacht "Seaquest" is owned by Richard DeVos who with his partner VanAndle formed what is known as Amway. I do not of anybody who has given back to society more than these two gentleman from Hospitals, Universities and colleges, art and cultural arenas and so on. The yacht "Blue Moon" is owned by a Chicago businessman who like many other wealthy people owns many different businesses. Both of these gentlemen are now in their nineties and are enjoying their fruits of their labors.

Looks like Bay Harbor. It was an old cement plant. Guy I knew had a cottage on the bay a few lots west of it. Went there a few times in the 70's. Nice beach/view but always wondered why he built there with the plant nearby. Nasty place back then. Don't know if he still has it or sold out. But the neighborhood got a lot pricier when they announced Bay Harbor.

At what point is a boat called a yacht? And then when is a yacht called a ship?

The local bigwig bought a new yacht, 105 feet long and a crew of two to sail from SW Michigan to FLA for the winters. Seems the manufacturer contacted him to provide a tour for a prospective new buyer: a Mr. Woods, some sort of golf course superintendent or something. He toured their boat and offered to buy it, as the wait for a new one was over a year. They declined and he ordered "Privacy", a 155 foot luxury yacht. Must be bigger to be a ship, I guess.

That is a nice area Tom, very beautiful, been a few years since I've been up there. Fish around TC sometimes. Just seems to be a lot of uppity do*chebags around as well with places like that.

Yepper. Guy with the money thinks he did it all by himself. If so why is he employing X number of workers to get the product out the door. How much of the Annual Gross Profits make their way into the pockets of the people who made it happen? Sure the guy at the top deserves to reap his reward for his efforts. Well, so do the worker bees, especially the ones who enthusiastically get involved in their job and strive for what's best for the company....."Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country". John Kennedy, 1962.
