farmall cub spark plugs.

got cub been plough with ! plugs keep getting fouled
../: I try tjem 386 not big fan, the original plugs
where a champion ( rd 16s ) ! will a AL 3116 work ?
I have mag on my my cub and hand crank it all the
time ? should there be a special plug for these with
mags or will the 3116 be ok? I've seen a cross
reference on the champions to NGKs and it says
ab2 or ab6.

I prefer 3116's in my cub. They also do well in my magneto equipped H. They just don't foul like the 386's do.

My cub engine has low hours on a rebuild but my H is well worn and does burn a little oil.

yeah .... I've herd 3116 is a hotter if and heard that
of the engine is well worn to use a hotter plug? well
mine is all original with no rebuild maybe sometime
back 20 years ago they did a rebuild ? ha but the 48
I have had the original mag and hand crank so I
start it just about every time with the crank the old
plugs where RD 16 champions, I've thought of
going with a champion D 21 plug ?? and using them
I just wasn't to sure which would be the best brand
since my cub had a working mag on it .

Same with me. I've never experienced what some people on here are saying about Champions. I've got them in 9 tractors and 4 of those have mags, 2 of them are F4 mags. With todays gas you have to go at least one heat range higher than the original recommendations even if the motor is in good shape.

What sort of fouling ? Black wet from oil ? engine worn out. Or dry black from too rich of fuel mixture which would indicate a carb. adjustment might clear up the problem.

Keeping the coolant temperature up at 195F where it belongs and having the idle and main mixture as lean as possible will eliminate fouling unless the engine is an oil burner. If the engine is getting lube oil into the combustion chamber use a low ash SF-2 oil speced for a two stroke Detroit .
