2009 f250 brakes

took my Ford F250 in because the front right wheel was smoking hot figured it was a stuck caliper I got the extended warranty when I bought it well Ford says caliper was fine but pins and slides rusted up not covered by warranty so $ 500 later they call and said the rear backing plate rusted out they want another $ 430 for the plate not covered thinking I got hosed on this hole extended warranty thing!!! thanks Howard

Brakes and clutches are frequently excluded from warranty's as "wear parts . Tires too...

Read the fine print on the warranty, you will notice most things considered wear items will not be covered, maintenance items too and more than likely emissions items. There are different levels of all of those aftermarket warranty contracts, some cover more than others but most don't cover the stuff mentioned above.

After having put 20 slide pins at least on my 2001 f350 in 5 years or so I'm not surprised. Brakes are a wear item though not warrantee. The only way to avoid them seizing to to have them taken apart once a year and put that silicone grease in them. Ford has revised the caliper design at least twice to try to help the slide pins from seizing but I don't find its better.

The pins are only a few bucks and easy to change if you do it before the seize, I'm guessing the 500$ was largely taking it apart and trying to get the old pin out or they just swapped a loaded caliper and bracket on.

Ive coated mine with anti seize before install.. works the same as the grease but helps in the rust thing..
