Saw mill pto help

I have a Belsaw that needs to turn 600 rpm. I have a JD 3020 and a 4020 and need to figure out what rpm with 1000 pto shaft to get 600 at the pto.

Simple ratio: The engine speed on top and the PTO speeds on the bottom. Look at your tractors and find out what engine RPM has the PTO speed at 1000 PTO rpm. Multiply that engine RPM times 600 and then divide that by 1000 will give you your needed engine RPM.

So lets assume that engine speed is 2200 rpm for 1000 PTO rpm. 2200 x 600 = 1,320,000 Then divide 1,320,000/1000 = 1320. So IF your normal engine RPM is 2200 for 1000 rpm PTO speed than you will need to run your engine at 1320 RPM for a PTO speed of 600 RPM

Could use a hand-tach and read the shaft speed directly to establish a throttle setting...or put the 540rpm shaft in and run it a little over pto speed on the tach...
