I am interested in turning up the fuel just a little on my jd 2555 because its nice to have a little extra grunt on hills. I at first thought these tractors had a stanadyne/roosamaster style pump but turns out they have a lucas cav style pump. Does anyone have any experience turning up this pump and if so how difficult is it.

NO WAY to do it safely & accurately on the tractor with a CAV DPA pump..
You might find someone to give you the instructions.. BUT,
The slightest movement of the fuel plate can increase the fuel 50-100%..
and THATS IF you move it in the right direction..

O that sucks... I would still like to get the instructions to do it.

Best to set it on the test bench, DPA had two different adjustable fuel plates, each move in a different direction for fuel setting change. And depending on application the direction the pump moves matters too, throws another curve ball in the mix..

A 55 series tractor is just old enough to warrant a reseal job. It will need one not that far down the road so just get it done now and have it done by someone with a test stand that can set it spot on. Trying to do one without the test stand is pretty iffy. Resealing a Cav/Roto diesel pump isnt expensive or time consuming. Most guys can turn one around in a day or two. I did two just this week.

man I didn't think it was this complicated, I figured you removed the rhombus shaped door on the side of the pump and there is plate in there that is turned to increase fuel delivery. But I guess I was wrong....

I have found that turning up the pump on utility tractors is a sure fire way to cause yourself problems in other areas of the tractor. A JD 2555 is a 65 PTO horse power tractor. I do not care if you turned it up to 75-80 HP it still is going to pull down on hills.

You have a good tractor I would leave it be.

I agree with your statement but the 2555 and 2755 share the same cooling system and just about everything else the same down to the lug nuts, it's not gonna hurt the tractor to bump it up to 2755 spec which is 75pto. The only difference between the turboed 2555 and 2755 is different settings on the injection pump.
