Anybody know if this is some type of weed?

This has been growing in my wife's flower garden for the last couple of years. I thought it was something she planted but she said she didn't. It grows larger in area every year and is about 4 inches high. It does not get any type of flower. it's root system is kinda like a vine.

Wife planted a couple by our entryway. They bloom with small dark pink flowers in early summer.

Similar to St. Augustine grass , but it has runners with sprouts/shoots on them .

Looks like Bentgrass to me. (Agrostis) stoloniferous too.

Looks like maden pinks to me. Should put out small flowers ranging from white to deep red in the spring. We have a lot of it in our flower gardens.

The way I get rid of things like that is carefully excavate around it, water it, gently remove it with all the root system, dig a huge hole and carefully re-plant, filling in with lots of top soil and plant mix, water every few days and a small amount of fertilizer; kiss of death.

Thanks for the answers. In the three years is has been growing it has never had any flowers. It always is the same height.
