Case VAC/VAI engine driven hyd pump fittings

I ask this the other day in the Case forum but have no answers. So I am planning to install the engine driven hyd pump on a VAI I have. The problem is, is that the one fitting on it is not a common size tread fitting so I need to find out what size it is and what type of tread it is so I can get his thing back up and usable.

5/8 is to small and 3/4 is to big and the treads are from what I can see a fine tread fitting. Sp any body know what the fitting is??

Thanks

Is it pipe thread , straight thread O ring or something else? Is it the suction or the pressure fitting? What type fitting is the other fitting? Is this a timing gear driven pump or a pump driven off the crankshaft?

I'm sure you've been around enough hydraulic fittings to recognize the common straight and taper pipe sizes...

Makes me wonder if it's not something missing, like an internal relief valve, some type of cartridge fitting?

Is there a brand name or model, something you could look up some pictures, see what's supposed to be there?

It is the larger of 2 fittings and appears to be the suction side of the pump. As for what type I am not sure since I have NOTHING other then the pump to compare the treads to.

It is the pump that mounts up in the timing gear area so yes likely to be driven by the timing gears. The treads appear to be a fine tread and from what I can see straight treads so maybe a fine tread o-ring fitting but no place in town has any thing that fits. Plus since I have nothing to go by on the tractor that does not help either

IIRC, that port accepted a steel tube with some sort of ferrule and nut with external threads (at least the versions from combine power units).

Take a look inside the port, and if it's straight threads and there's a machined area at the bottom to accept a ferrule that is the kind of thing you are looking for.

Looks like the (NLA) part # for the nut MAY be VT4911. Looks to be a big version of the #222-503 5/16" "hi-duty" nut with ferrule attached IH used on gas lines "back in the day".

My late Uncle had a VAC with combine pump and used heater hose (NOT a good idea) to feed oil to it and he and the local blacksmith made up a fitting from two pieces of electrical conduit brazed into a cast-iron elbow. NOT sure where they found the nut, and (IIRC) waterpump packing instead of the correct ferrule.

Can't really tell if a ferrule type fitting would work in there or not. At the bottom of the treads it looks like the edges go to a flat area maybe a 32 of an inch of so so maybe you have it.

Do you know where I might find those fittings??

Yep been around a good number of fittings and some odd ball one to boot but this is so far as odd as I have seen. This is the stock VAI hyd pump made for it . The pump has VT519 and then the case eagle under it

you might want to look at McMaster Carr compression tube fittings. they list the brass couplings as having an 11/16" x 20 thread for 1/2" tube od. possibly scrap the nut and screw it directly in the pump with its matching compression sleeve. note this is for low pressure applications but should work fine on suction side. hope this helps leroy

Ya I was just messing with it a bit ago with some fittings I have on hand and found something odd. I am going to post pictures of what I found in a minute
