Great pictures Larry. I'm glad you got my favorite tractor out today. I wonder if I could grow some sunflowers out on the deck in pots here in Florida next year?

loren you would be surprised . dad had one of them little fords because the vac did not have 3pt ,.. he would do the most dangerous stunts of puliing with the chain hookt to the top mast and a bushog for a wheelie caster ,. he could not pull the vac safely like that ,. but it held its own very well..

you dont have to cry to find parts for it,,and you dont need a wheelbarrow full of money to pay for the parts for it,,,,when you have a green and yellow tractor,,,you need a lot of greenbacks,,,,lol

Nice pics! My 2n has done some some pretty serious log pulling out of our woods with some very serious mud/ruts just so y'all know! Lol. Wish I had some picks of it
pulling through that woods but I was afraid of not getting out again if I stopped. I do have that pic of it when the woods was dry though. Sure doesn't look as nice as
Alrrys!

Hey Larry, his had it's radiator cap on the right way so it was arrow-dynamic. The radiator cap on yours, will catch a limb here in the woods and stall it. HeHe.
Loren

that worx on my sc fairly well too ,,. I wonder if they will interchange , put the ford on the case and the sc case cap on the ford ,,. could nt look any worse than ac 190 fenders on a case ,.. lol

I guess Ford sold over a million N series tractors from 39 to 52 because they were were not very good! They sure got a lot of farmers out from behind a pair of mules

He's got a long way to go before arrow dynamic is an issue! But when Jack Donohue went 96 + MPH he made sure it was on right! Lol

Floldford: I am just busting Larry's chops. A Ford "N" series tractor where a great tractor in their day. You did have many sold to replace a team of horses. so they fulfilled there design.

No flash forward 65 years and their usefulness/ease of use, is less compared to newer tractors. Look at Larry. He has a newer Ford that gets used much more often than the 8N. That just how it is.

We all drive more comfortable vehicles than a Ford model "T" but that car made the US into a CAR culture.

I like those 8N's. My grandpa farmed a lot of acres with 3 of them. The only one I have owned I bought as a non-runner and sold it running with enough of a profit to buy my wife her 80" bigscreen tv....so she likes em too!

Well that was fun reading top to bottom. I am going to load up my little 48 8n and take it to a truck and tractor show today, I am going to put it up on
the Ferguson tractor jack, that usually draws a lot of attention. The picture is from a tractor meet a few yrs ago.

have you ever ran one with a little pipe tube loader and no live power hydraulics and not to mention power steering ,,.? I am sure you can relate tothis story ? we borrowed the neighbors little ford and loader to clean out the barn , some 45 yrs ago ,. we usually forked about 40 loads each spring by hand on a 90 bu new idea pulled by the VAC,. wow ,.. we got a lot done with a grader blade and chains on the rear wheels ,. my older brother got real good at scooping andwe would ber rite there filling the loaderand or holding it all in as he shifted to neutral and raised the bucket , then grabbed reverse to head over to the spreader and then trip the bucket ,.. we started Friday after school,..and was all but done Saturday evening ,, , soon as we got home from church on sunday and had breakfast ,. my brothers and I ran down to the barn to finish the job ,,. I begged my brother for a chance to run the little ford,,.he gave in to this little 12 yr old kid ,,.. that little ford was tuf to steer , and all that clutching ,,,. good gawd! ,.. after I loaded the spreader, I was glad to give the ford back to my 14 yr old brother ,. and pinch hi t with Dad for the VAC loads ,..funny thing we thought we had it made with that little ford ,,..about that time the 1st yr of 165 masseys came out another neighbor got one with a loader and hydraulic bucket ,,. Wow . No clutching except to change gears , power steering and constant power to the hydraulix

Larry, Want to take your tractor's younger sister for a ride. She cuts 5 acres a week, never heard mine cry. I put a Monroe ez ride seat on her. Makes a big difference on my back. The dirt spots in yard are flattened mole hills. geo

I can loosely relate with yah 01gentDC

My first experience running a loader tractor of any kind was Dad's side distributer 8N with Dearborn pipe cage loader with trip bucket at right around the age of 11 or so. We at least had the front engine drive pump for the loader hydraulics so they were always live. While it was not the handiest of loaders by modern standards it sure beat the heck out of no loader at all. The steering was tough - the secret is you have to be moving.

Even with the tough steering as a young kid learning to cultivate soybeans with a rear mounted Dearborn cultivators I did much better on the 8N with the loader still on but bucket off for better visibility than the Case 430 with its hydrostatic power steering. I could drive the 8N by feel where that was nearly impossible on the 430 Case as it handled so easy you drove it by experience. I DID NOT have any experience yet so I was a trainwreck on the 430 Case with cultivators constantly plowing out rows where I was pretty darned good on the 8N for my age and never plowed out rows. So I preferred the 8N at that time even though it was harder to handle and Dad would use the 430 Case. We covered lots of acres cultivating working in tandem like that.

Imagine having an F10 Farmhand loader on one! My grandfather and uncle had one to stack hay and then stack square bales in the field. They did have truck tires on the front LOL! I can still here the old governors working like crazy whenever they square baled or were stacking the bales across the crick from us.

Larry, your little 8N is blind as a bat. That's why it was crying! Get a small wheelbarrow of money and get a good pair of lenses so it can see it's way out of the barn.

All these nice pictures makes me want to buy Dad's '39 9n from my step-down if it hasn't sold by the time I finish the '41 Case DC3 project. It's not an aluminum hood model, just a workhorse. A lot better shape than the Case too.

Thanks Larry it does cleans up ok. it aint no trailer queen though it earns it's keep hauling logs, raking the drive and snow cleanup with a 7' rear blade among other chores.
