Trying to finish some of my jobs this week

I am calling some of my late customers this week, to do their mowing before I go in for hip replacement surgery. I am scheduled for next Monday morning. Almost everyone says it is a easy recovery, and a safe operation. I guess I will find out. Stan
 
My partner in physical therapy was a woman who got a hip. Seemed the most painful for her was learning to step in and out of a tub. { you do weird stuff -- they also have a fake car you step in and out for practice. ] I think they just want to keep you moving . I wish you all the best. I think you'll be pleased with it.
 
Mine was last November. They had me walking (with a walker) the same day. After maybe a week or two I was on a cane. It wasn't a bad recovery. I expected much worse. I was pretty much on my own after a couple of months. I'm so glad I did it.
 
I think hip replacement recovery is much easier than knee replacement. The fellows I know that have had it done say that the hip is less painful. The rehab for knees is pretty tough.
 
Good luck with the surgery. Do follow doctor's orders. Infection and the joint popping out are the two biggies the doc worries about. Marilyn had one done a little over two years ago and now it is good as new.
 
I had both replaced...one in "09, the other a year ago. "09 was more complicated- they cut across the muscle, longer recovery time. Last year was a simpler procedure, cutting lengthwise, and shorter recovery. Yes, they get you up on day one. Current surgery, they expect people below medicare age to be outpatient, over that age, to stay in one night. Both of mine turned out excellent, but I feel the key is to DO THE EXERCISES! Knee surgery is more complicated, as the joint has a different range of motion. Both of my hips were bone on bone, and I don"t miss the grinding at each step! Good luck on yours....
