Weekend Tractor Ride/Trek

Had a two day trek last weekend, which was just terrific. Good Machinery, good people, good places to visit and great fun!
Hope these pics show up for you guys.

Hi Rex,

That must have been yours, second from right.

I see you're a "Red Neck". I assume that you are flying your "National Colors" on your tractor. We do that too "down heah", er-ah "up heah" in Texas.

I see the last part of your tractor decal says Australia. What is the first word?

Just idle curiosity: Why is the road much deeper than the forest?

Is all Australia mostly sandy or sandy loam soil? I live on Houston Black Clay....goo and puffy in the winter; dry, cracked, and shrunk in summer. Impossible to build anything on it without a significant foundation and to farm it, you have to do it when the soil is ready, not when you're ready.

Do they still run that 500 mile train in the "Out Back" where the engineer has to get out of his seat every 30 seconds to reset the timer or the train will stop? (It's to ensure he stays awake for those who know not.)

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark, I had more photos but had trouble uploading them
Yes, that's our Chamberlain. 1957 "6G" . The wording on the bonnet is "made in Australia" That model and the 9G are very popular for treks. They have a big bench seat so the wife can come along, plus they will do 30mph.
That track is in sandy soil, and I'd say it was so low due to erosion and wear and tear. Some of them get lower every year.
Our soils change incredibly in this country. We are on the edge of the Darling Downs, where there are huge areas of what is known as black soil. Sounds similar to what you were describing. I'm in road and bridge building and black soils are a real challenge. Other areas have different soil, but they can be very fine in texture, subject to wind and water erosion.

Glad you liked the pics. I'll try to get some more up there when I get a chance.
And I'm quite happy on that side of the road thanks!

All the best
