A welcome rain...

Got more rain this weekend than we received in the last 70 days. With 8 tenths on Sat. plus 1.8 today, we should be good for a while .Perhaps too late to help the corn, but at least it will reduce cannibalizing. The soys still have potential for a great crop. Ben

I got 2.3 overnight on top of 1.4 Friday night or whenever it was. We needed it,but my oats didn't. They should have been cut two weeks ago but I couldn't get to it. I took the combine up yesterday morning and the whole mess looked like a total loss. I went back up with the discbine and started cutting the weedy stuff. Some of the lambsquarter was up to the middle of the windows on the 2-105. I cut quite a bunch of it before I found anything at all that even began to be clean enough to run through the combine. Not sure now with this last rain that I can even salvage any of it.

We had a load of rain too , and it is still showering off and on at 8:00 pm . So today I just thought , " I had better start to fix that darn lawn mower " . Broke down way back in June , when I last needed to cut the grass. Cutting grass is such a waste of time , can't bale it or put it through the harvester.

I'll roll it up and use it for bedding. They can grub through it and eat the oats out of it.
