I thought this was interesting

This steam engine is a our local steam show

Well, I see a couple of AC-G's in the back ground, but that steam engine is the sharpest item in the picture. Did they fire it up? Does it run? Maybe because its the only one in the world, best not to try.

I'm from Indiana, been here most of my life. Born in South Bend, grew up in Elkhart County, Elkhart and Wakarusa. Had and have cousins in Bremen and Plymouth. Long before my time came Rumley in LaPorte, west of us. The Rumley Oil Pull? At some point Rumley bought out or merged with Advanced Steam. Early '60's I was down visiting my cousins in Bremen and through the woods and down the road on the corner was the Sinclair gas station that had one pump, but one heck of a candy counter. A nickle got about a whole bag of candy and that was quite a deal to a four year old, which I figure was about how old I was at the time. I went into the store, got my nickle or dimes worth of gum and you name it and walked outside. As I walked out, a farmer came tooling up through the gravel parking lot on his Rumley-Advanced steamer, and that thing was breathing fire. Steam blowing, fire rolling and it was coming right at me face to face. The front wheels were as tall as I was. I just knew I was dead. Allis Chalmers, John Deeres, Olivers, Farmalls, Masseys, I was familiar with all of them and had ridden on several including our own AC-B and Farmall H. But this thing though, I had never seen anything like it and if it didn't run me over, was going to explode in my mind. I was dead, dead, dead. I dropped my candy, ran across the gravel, across and down the road, through the woods and didn't stop until I got safely back to my cousins where they had gasoline and diesel tractors with rubber tires like ours that didn't whistle, wheeze, hiss, or blow steam and bellow fire.

I sure wish I had one now. A controlled explosion on wheels. One of them or an Oil Pull. I'd be one happy and proud fella. Thanks for posting that picture.
