Burning Some Old Gas

Lost power tonight for the first time in a couple years, and I keep the generator full, so burning up some old gas. I always run it out of gas when I'm done - it seems to be burning ok. Hopefully it'll be out long enough to use up most of the tank...

Pete,So far our power has stayed on. I have a pic from today and wanted to see if you know the location. How is the 1755 doing? Last time I tried to fire up my generator the switch was broke and runs fine without it now. lol, Greg

Greg,
You got me stumped - is that looking down at Tylers?
I ended up getting a rebuild kit from Korves for the 1755 - sleeves, pistons and bearings. I had Robert at Vans do the head for me - the rocker arm shaft I got from you worked great. It's running good - now I just need a little more weather to get the hay done...

Sperry Hollow looking toward Schenevus. Wow doesn't like my spelling of Schenevus! I'm knocking down the weeds for a guy that found my wife's missing German Shepherd. I was up early and let the dog out and he wandered off. I figured he'd be back when I got home from work still no dog. My wife and daughter were on vacation and I stayed because we are busy at work it's just me and the boss he didn't hire the dead beats back! So he tracked our dog with his dog and saved me from the dog house! Good to here the Oliver's running good!

I have burned lots of old gas, never had a problem. I think if it's in a tractor out in the sun where there is a lot of temperature change it probably gets bad a lot quicker. Your generator is probably inside, like mine is.

my old Gilette generator has a really convenient tank drain- the older, American-built ones might have had some design elements from a time gone by...

It's really not a good idea to burn old gas. Depending on just how old it is it can put varnish deposits on your valves. You might consider a fuel stabilizer if you are not going to run the generator often enough to keep the gas fresh.
