Older Steiger's, Bull in a China Cabnet ?

I've been reading up abit Steiger's, seems they are heavily over engineered, can be flogged to death, easy to repair and part finding easy enough.
How do they stack up today? Are they still sorted after or considered too cumbersome for any practical use with modern equipment?

I know a guy who, til a few years ago, had a FW 60 Ford/Steiger with a 903 Cummins, weighted extra to pull a tile plow. He had to do some beefing up on one of the axles.

Guy not far from used his as a lawnmower. Batwing mower on the road banks. It looks pretty all waxed up. It's also a good way to slow traffic down.

I have a friend who had one when breaking up farm ground. Cheap power for sure and most components are standard truck stuff so easy to find.

Their a very tough, overbuilt old horse that is simple to repair and reliable. In my area, many an old(20-30 year old) Steiger or versatile, fitted with a modern closed center hydraulic system, does yearly duty pulling big tillage or air seeder loads. Many retrofitted with the latest in GPS and other precision farming equipment.
