Question about tires and rims

Good evening, i am a new tractor (Farmall cub) owner and i just got some used tires and rims 9.5x24 and i cant get them on the hub. On the old rims there are not any of thoses tabs on the mounting blocks. Is it possible to cut the ones off of the new/used rims? Or do i need to either take them back or sell them? Sorry for not knowing all the correct terminology.

Thank you,
John

If your new, you will have to ask down
in site comments to post pictures.
Agreed pictures would be helpful.

Just taking a guess here but almost sounds like you have a problem with 2 type of rims. One loop type and one with the wedge type and either will work if you have all the correct hardware to go with them

take a look over on Farmall Cub.com
sounds like you have the wrong rims
9.5x24 are big for a Cub , however will work for most uses

Know exactly what you're talking about I was going to mount some newer JD rims on Farmall A centers those tabs or 'buttons' were in the place the bolt needed to go so I ended up knocking the tabs off with a Cole Chisel.Apparently the newer centers on some tractors have a slightly differently spacing.Maybe Metric?

My Cub tires are 8.3 x 24. Is this what your rims look like?

Yes the rims that you have pictured are the rims that i had to take off because they were in horrible condition. The new rims has little ears that come off the top of the mounting block. I will take pictures of them when i get home from work tomorrow.

I don't know exactly what youre up against but I would not cut weld or grind on rims with tires on them. I have see videos of them build pressure rapidly and exploding.

Ok i went out and took a picture so that you can see what i am trying to decribe, that tab seems to be the only thing holding me up, there is one on each side. I believe i can break it off with a chisel. So i wont have to cut on it.

You didnt get Cub rims you got rims for an A,B,and BN ect those are different from what the Cub takes. Only Cub rims fit a Cub. There is just enough difference so they dont interchange i have both.

Yes thats what they look like but his are for an A,B ect they all look alike but there is just enough difference between the Cub and the others so they will not interchange.

Ok, now i know. Thank you everyone for your help. Im sure i will have another question for you soon, lol

That's the joy of the forums, shared knowledge.
BTW, it you happen to have a Farmall A, B, BN, the outer
rims from an Allis Chalmers C will interchange with those.
Probably true of the AC B and others, although I haven't tried those.

Also, the diameter of the bolts that attach the rim to the wheel center are different for Cub and A & B. Cub rims will not fit on A. Don't know about Allie's.

Hello all, i was able to get a pair of tires and rims on loan today from an extremely nice guy until i am able to get mine replaced. What i am going to do is just repair the old set and put the 9.5x24 tires on the original rims. I have a friend who is amazing with metal work. So i will be selling the other rims that dont fit, anyone interested? Lol
